Darren Lehmann, Australian coach, has named India as favorites to lift 2016 ICC World T20 Cup. The 46 year old Lehmann, a former player turned coach, said that he could not see any team defeating India in the final stage of the competition. India would play West Indies in the second semifinal on Thursday. England won against New Zealand in the first semifinal and made it to the final.
Lehman said, “I can't see them losing, that's my personal opinion. I think whoever won (between Australia and India) would go a long way in the tournament … everyone thinks that around the world.”
Coming to Australia, the team was knocked out of the competition in the group stage. Virat Kohli’s brilliant knock of 82 not out of 51 balls helped India to beat Australia and confirm its semi-final berth.
If India wins World T20 2016 as predicted by Lehmann, it will become the first team to lift the trophy two times and MSD will become the first captain to win two titles for India, leading the team.
India are favorites in the World T20 Semi-final, to be played against West Indies, given the form and home advantage. Ravi Shastri says, "This is not a knockout for us, our knockout was the last game. That was a quarter-final, this is a semi-final."
