Biggest challenge was to stay positive, says Dhoni

After loosing first match to New Zealand in World T20, Indian skipper M.S. Dhoni explained the importance of winning next three matches with a good margin. He reiterated that it is a do or die situation in every match, after losing the first match.

Dhoni felt that too many soft dismissals during their chase are major cause for India suffering a 47-run defeat in the opener.

“We needed a partnership to stay in the game. But that did not happen. The bowlers did a decent job in containing the Kiwis to a modest score. But, I think it is the batting which was a bit of a disappointment,” the skipper said.

“I would definitely feel that the Nagpur pitch was a sporting one. Generally many feel that only seaming wickets are sporting. Maybe they feel that only if the ball hits the head it is a sporting wicket,” he added with a smile.

Dhoni said that there is a clear lack of application during chase and it happens when your top order fails. Pressure shifts to lower order in such situations. The biggest challenge was to remain positive, learn from mistakes and come back strongly, showing character, said the captain.

India will have a clash with Pakistan the coming Sunday. This is one much awaited match between arch rivals in the World T20 championship. Indian fans are wishing that India bounces back!
