Former BCCI chiefs N Srinivasan and Sharad Pawar held a surprise meet in Nagpur, intensifying the leadership battle in the board after the demise of Jagmohan Dalmiya. Even though the details of the meeting are not known, the current leadership is said to be the agenda behind the meet.
It is learnt that last night, present ICC President Srinivasan has met the Maratha strongman Sharad Pawar for a couple of hours at the residence of Praful Patel, NCP leader and former Central Minister. Srinivasan has been at loggerheads with Pawar since a long time. At present, Pawar is on a tour to Vidarbha that was hit by drought.
Later in the day, in Bangalore, Srinivasan is expected to meet his loyalists in the board. The ICC chairman is to meet around eight to nine units to discuss about the roadmap before the Special General Body meeting to decide on a replacement for Dalmiya, who passed away last Sunday.
The meeting of Pawar and Srinivasan seems surprising developments in the war for the post of President of BCCI. It was Pawar who initially raised his voice against Srinivasan over the implication of his son-in-law in the IPL spot-fixing and betting scandal. Eventually, Srinivasan had to step down as the chief of BCCI, after the Supreme Court chided him.
