BCCI President Jagmohan Dalmiya who complained chest pain was rushed to the BM Birla Heart Research Institute late on Thursday night. The 75-year-old might have suffered a heart attack because of which he had to be hospitalized.
Physically indisposed due to a number of ailments, the veteran cricket administrator was not taking active part in day to day activities of the BCCI for some time.
According to a hospital source, "Jagmohan Dalmiya was today admitted to the BM Birla Hospital after 9 pm after he was brought here with complaints of chest pain. A medical team has been assigned and they are monitoring his health."
It is learnt that Jagmohan Dalmiya was accompanied by this son Abhishek Dalmiya during hospitalization. Others who rushed to the hospital were, former Indian cricket captain Sourav Ganguly, minister in-charge of West Bengal sports Arup Biswas, and few other senior officials of local body Cricket Association of Bengal (CAB).
Dalmiya's health issue
For a quite some time, Dalmiya's health issue has been an open secret. In March 2015, Dalmiya took over the post of BCCI president. In the near past, Dalmiya was not been able to conduct any meetings of BCCI due to improper health. The veteran was not even able to coherently answer questions at the Justice RM Lodha headed three-member panel appointed by SC. Dalmiya’s son was prompting questions to him. Dissenting voices has been rising in BCCI concerned to Dalmiya’s failing health, with calls to take him off from the present post.
