Indian cricket team is all set to avenge its humiliating loss in the hands of Zimbabwe in the upcoming five-match ODI series that kick starts tomorrow. However, with most of their top players rested, Indian team is well aware of the perils that await in the series.
In their Bilateral Series against Zimbabwe, Indian team, headed by Suresh Raina, suffered a humiliating loss in all the matches played.
With Virat Kohli leading the team this time, and backed by two recent victories, just hope that India is able to continue on its success run.
While Zimbabwe team is no strong foes for the World Cup Champions, however, it can prove to be quite heavyweight for an “under-strength team”.
With R Ashwin, Ishant Sharma, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Umesh Yadav and skipper Dhoni rested for this series, the onus is clearly going to be on Kohli's shoulders to sail the team to victory.
"All along we've prepared and hoped we might surprise them in one of the games," Zimbabwe coach Andy Waller has stated.
"You've got to be realistic, but as long as we're competitive and do the best we can. Our guys are hugely excited about this. It's a great experience for them, and we've been preparing knowing that the best side in the world are coming," he added.
The Indian batting line will have Kohli, Rohit Sharma, Shikhar Dhawan, Cheteshwar Pujara, and Suresh Raina. The bowlers squad will have Shami Ahmed, Mohit Sharma, Vinay Kumar, Jaydev Unadkat, Amit Mishra and debutant Parveez Rasool. Dinesh Karthik will be the wicket keeper.
The Brendon Taylor-led Zimbabwean team is depleted of any major stars.
