Pakistan, aided by Captain's Shahid Afridi's 5-wicket haul, overwhelmed the African minnows Kenya by a vast margin of 205 runs,in yesterday's World Cup match played at Hambantota in Sri Lanka.
Pakistan’s middle-order overcame the sluggisth start to pile up 317/7 in 50 overs after electing to bat. Akmal brothers played stellar roles in Pakistan's innings with younger Umar Akmal smashing 71 while his elder brother, Kamran, made 55.

Both were ably supported by stylish batsman, Misbah-ul-Haq, who hit close to run-a-ball 65. Former Pak Cap Younis Khan was out for a well-made 50. Pakistan plundered 110 runs in the last 10 overs of the match.  Among the Kenyan bowlers, medium-pacer Thomas Odoyo conceded 46 runs taking 3 wickets in 7 overs.

None of the last six recognized batsmen reached double figures with four of them being dismissed for a duck.Collins Obuya was the only batsman to offer some resistance to the opposition camp as he blasted three sixes and three fours in his 47. Kenya were finally dismissed for 112 in 33.1 overs.

Umar Gul was the other successful bowler, taking two wickets for Pakistan.

It was the biggest ever victory for the Pakistan team in the history of World Cup.

Previously, Kenya caused the major upset in a World Cup when it reached the semifinals in 2003.

Pakistan next meets Sri Lanka on 26th at Colombo.
