The Congress party leaders belonging to SC communities are said to be leveling serious allegations on former chief minister late Y S Rajashekara Reddy. They seemed to have made YSR a target. Many leaders are coming out with statements in party internal meetings as well as in public meetings that YSR failed to do justice to the SC communities. Probably these statements are being made in order to see to it public don’t tilt towards YSR Congress Party and YS Jaganmohan Reddy.
This time former IAS official and Rajya Sabha member J D Sheelam made these comments. He has alleged that YSR spoke in an insulting tone when he took to his notice about certain programmes that were beneficial to SC and ST communities. He mentioned these points at the internal party meet.
The party members alleged that whether it was in the matters pertaining to fee reimbursement or pakka houses or Arogyasri, SCs received these benefits just like others individuals in the state and that the then chief minister didn’t do any favour to them. To make a point they cited a village wherein two students got engineering seats in same college that was four kilometers away from the village. While one student belonging to affluent class travelled by motorcycle, SC student had to walk all the way to the village. This incident was just an example, according to the leaders, to highlight the problems that SC and ST communities faced during YSR’s period.
