Delhi and Mumbai - India’s two most popular cities have been featured on the global weed consumption list. The list was topped by New York while Karachi in Pakistan ranked second.
According to ‘ABCD 2018 Cannabis Price Index’ report, Delhi has been ranked third while the 'maximum city' Mumbai is placed on the sixth position in terms of cannabis consumption.
According to a report, Delhi residents consumed around 38.8 tonnes of weed while Mumbai residents consumed 32.4 tonnes in 2018.
A report by the AIIMS (All India Institute of Medical Science) earlier revealed that 3.1 crore people in India are addicted to cannabis, which is popularly known as ganja, charas, and bhang in the country.
The study was carried out by the German media campaign outlet - ABCD that seeks to legalize cannabis.
New York topped the list with 77.4 tonnes of cannabis consumption earlier this year. Karachi has been placed in the second position with 42 tonnes of weed consumption.
The other cities that found a spot in the list are Los Angeles, Cairo, London, Chicago, Moscow, and Toronto. Other than Toronto, no city is legalized to consume cannabis.
Toronto legalized weed earlier this year. The study also listed prices of weed across the cities. According to the report, Mumbai (Rs 329 per gram) and Delhi (Rs 315 per gram) were the cheapest to buy the drug.
