Are you a wallflower or the gregarious kind? Do you fuss and fret over problems, or simply let the chips fall where they may? Well, if you are one of those jittery, introvert and unreasonably rational types, then your chances of becoming a dad is considerably low reveals researchers.
According to a new study published in the European Journal of Personality, men who are “neurotic” are less like to have babies then those who are relaxed and fun. The researchers also claim that men who are outgoing and open are more “likely to become dads than introverted and reserved types”.
As per the reports, a new trend in parenting evolved post 1957, as the new age parents became flexible and optional in their approach. As people started staying together before marriage, babies eventually took a backseat.
Studies show that the rising trend to postpone parenthood and “explore one’s options and one’s freedom might make it easier for “neurotic” men to postpone parenting. Evidence also shows that the higher level of education one attains, the less likely one is to have children and the less likely they are to have multiple children. In other words, education can serve to further one’s career while simultaneously slowing down one’s impulse to have children right away.”
Anxious men might also be less likely to have children because they might spend more time reflecting on everything that could go wrong. The idea could feel so overwhelming that they might simply choose to postpone children, if they decide to have them at all.
