Course description:
This 3 day media relations course is a highly interactive block of instruction aimed at developing those basic communication skills necessary to conduct successful media interviews, no matter the level of experience. The class consists of both lecture and practical exercises and combines case studies of recent, high-profile cases where effective media relations played a role in the outcome.
Topics discussed include: conducting successful print and broadcast interviews, conducting a news conference, social media in law enforcement, public information and the law, and basic tools for the department’s public information officer.
This class is taught by instructors from the FBI who have both real-world media and law enforcement experience. There is no fee for the class. Travel and lodging expenses are the responsibility of participants. Class will be held from 0800 to 1630 hours each day.
