Bangladesh’s former prime minister Sheikh Hasina is currently taking shelter in India after flying away from her country over the reservation protests. There is no proper information about Hasina's stay, such as how long she will stay in India. Recently Bangladesh's chief justice has requested India to arrest Hasina and hand it over to them.

With all these, there is a hypothetical question of whether her presence in India will impact Bangladesh relations. New Foreign advisor Towhid Hossain has responded over the issue, he said the allegations are baseless and Hasina’s shelter in India will not impact any of the relations with the neighbouring South Asian countries. Sheikh Hasina resigned and left Dhaka in less than 45 minutes on August 5th after the military had served notice, she served Bangladesh for 15 years as the prime minister. She landed in India with help from India, she landed in the Indian Air Force base near Delhi and remained in the country from then. Her whereabouts have not been disclosed.

S Jaishankar, the Indian foreign minister, informed the parliament that she requested to come to India on short notice for a short span. Hasina's application for asylum in a third country is still not considered. As per sources, she is trying for asylum in the UK. Sheikh Hasina has all rights to decide her plans, as informed by the Minister of External Affairs spokesperson. No one will force her to leave the country. At a press conference in Dhaka, a foreign adviser was asked about the relations between India and Bangladesh as Hasina is staying in India. Hossain said that If a person has gone to a country, why will the relationship be destroyed, there is no reason for that.

He also said that the friendship is based on bilateral interests and with no interest, there is no friendship. With mutual interests, Bangladesh and India are in a friendship and we will maintain the same. The same minister, Hossain, a day before told the media that he would try to bring back the former Prime Minister into Bangladesh if the country gave them such instructions. Many student organisations and political parties allege that Hasina is the reason behind the country's current situation and she should be accountable for that.

Currently, the situation is still bad in Bangladesh, as there are many attacks on minorities.
