An umpteen Television series, including few filmed in Atlanta are hoping to receive nominations for 2018 Primetime Emmy Awards.

The Primetime Emmy Award is awarded for excellence in primetime television bestowed by the Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (ATAS).

The voting period that lasts for two weeks for the 70th annual event commenced on Monday, and voting members of the Television Academy are required to sift through more than 2,300 submissions before making a decision.

There are 16 races across several categories this year, including best actor and actress in a drama, in a comedy, best drama series, and best comedy series.

On the ballot, Peach State is home to many of shows, including "Stranger Things," "Atlanta," "Halt and Catch Fire," and "Ozark"

Earlier this year, Netflix's "Stranger Things" received three nominations and "Atlanta" of FX'S received two, with its star Donald Glover receiving the award for outstanding lead actor in a comedy series.

"Halt and Catch Fire" and "Ozark" TV shows even though have never been nominated for Emmys, those are the contenders.

For the consideration of Emmy voters, few metro Atlanta-linked stars are as well competing.

Job Brunson, is on the list for best gust actress in a drama series for her role on NBC's "This Is Us." Glover, a Stone Mountain-native, is on the ballot once again.

RuPaul, an Atlanta-native is running for outstanding host for his series "RuPaul's Drag Race." His show could as well snag a nomination for a prominent reality-competition program.

The nominees will be proclaimed July 12.

Voting ends June 25, while 70th annual Primetime Emmys will take place on September 17.
