For those who don't know the true story of Modi, here you are. Presently a strong contender for the post of Prime Minister, Modi was not always like this. Before he found fame and wealth, he was a humble chai wallah and hard working sweeper. Shocking huh! He is India's very own Cinderella.
A controversial figure here and abroad, Narendra Modi is a BJP candidate who served as Gujarat's Chief Minister 4 times in a row. That makes him the longest serving CM in the state's history. Modi is a self proclaimed nationalist born in the year 1950.
He was the third child to a grocer's family and ran a tea stall as a teenager, near a bus stand with his brother. Although an average student, he later went on to work at the staff canteen of Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation. Since then, he displayed quick thinking and determined ambition, as he charted a path towards slow political growth.
From his days with the RSS and Sangh Parivar to his time as a CM, Modi was in the midst of several issues, one of them being the Gujarat violence in 2002. However, he is also associated with considerable economic growth in Gujarat.
From someone who washed clothes and swept floors for RSS campaigners, Modi has come a long way.
