The Skoda Kylaq has been launched with us at an attractive starting price of Rs 7.89 lakh (ex-showroom). This is the entry-level subcompact SUV in Skoda's Indian lineup and sits below the larger Qashqai. It is the MQB AO IN platform, the same platform that houses Kushaq and Slavia. Reservations begin on December 2, 2024 and deliveries begin on January 27, 2025. If you are looking for a subcompact SUV, you may want to know more about the Kylaq.

The Skoda Kairak was launched with certain design elements that differentiated it from the larger Kushak, but its appearance is more like a baby Kushak. Its dashboard features a split headlight arrangement that consists of stylish daytime running lights that sit atop the headlights. It features the well-known blackened butterfly grill. The Kylaq rides on 17-inch aluminum wheels (16-inch on lower models). Chrome-plated door handles, body panels and roof rails emphasize the SUV's appearance. LED taillights with sports rear cover, shark fin antenna and roof spoiler. The SKODA lettering on the tailgate is in chrome and there is also a rear wiper with washer and window heating. To add volume to the overall look, a thick, silver wood filler is required.

The dashboard design and layout is similar to the Koshaq, focusing on a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment system. But unlike Kushak, Kilak has a black and gray cabin theme. The steering wheel also features two spokes, giving it a sportier look. The edges of the AC valves are chrome plated. Features include a 10-inch touchscreen infotainment screen with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, an 8-inch digital display, automatic climate control with rear vents, keyless entry and a sunroof. Safety is ensured by six standard airbags, a tire pressure monitoring system (TPMS), ABS with EBD, electronic stability control (ESC), hill start assist and a reversing camera with sensor.

The Kylaq is powered by a 1-liter turbocharged petrol engine that produces up to 115 hp and 178 Nm. This engine is paired with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter transmission. The Skoda Kairak is priced at Rs 789,000 (ex-showroom). The official price is expected to be announced to the public on January 15 at the Bharat Motor Show. It competes with subcompact SUVs like Maruti Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Kia Sonet, Tata Nexon and Mahindra XUV 3XO.
