Junaid Khan will finally make his 'Maharaj' debut after the Gujarat High Court canceled his release. The film was initially scheduled to release on June 14 but was postponed due to opposition from the Vishwa Hindu Parishad. Today, June 21, we learned that viewers can stream Maharaj on Netflix and received an acquittal from the Gujarat High Court. According to a report by Press Trust of India (PTI), the Gujarat High Court quashed the verdict against the film 'Maharaj'. Junaid Khan and Jaideep Ahlawat's historical drama is currently streaming on Netflix. YRF provided the link and password of the film to the court to find out whether the film hurts religious sentiments. Judge Sangeeta K. Vishen, who had earlier delayed the film's release on June 13 after watching the film, decided to release the film on streaming platforms on Friday (June 21).

This court has initially concluded that Maharaj's film is based on events that led to the filing of a defamation suit and that it is not intended to hurt the sentiments of the Pashtimurgi community and that it was approved by the Central Board of Film Certification , a panel of experts, taking into account the relevant instructions... the temporary exemption granted on June 13 is revoked. Earlier, while appearing for YRF, advocate Sharin Mehta had said that if the court deems it necessary, he will provide the link to the film, but otherwise he will not provide a link to the film. In the film, Maharaj stars alongside Junaid Khan, Shalini Pandey, Jadeep Ahlawat and Shruri Veg. Set in pre-independence India, the film focuses on the 1862 Maharaj libel trial, which was initiated over "allegations of misconduct by prominent figures," according to an official memo.

Aamir Khan's son Junaid Khan will play the role of Karsandas Mulji. He plays the role of a journalist and women's rights activist who studied at Elphinstone College in Mumbai and was mentored by Dadabhai Naoroji. Meanwhile, Maharaj is directed by Siddharth P. Malhotra and produced by Aditya Chopra under YRF Entertainment.
