Story

Fugly is the story of four friends Dev (Marwah), Devi (Advani), Gaurav (Singh) and Aditya (Lamba). The four friends go about their business in happy-go-lucky attitude until they collide with corrupt police officer Chautala (Shergill) and a crime takes place.

Analysis :

 Fugly-review

Fugly had the potential to be a great movie. It has a dramatic story, a fresh cast, a character actor and the background of the gritty city Delhi. But the film lacked the intricate weaving of a tightly-knit drama. There are too many loose threads. The film has a line "Apne aap ko bara James Bond samajhta hai.", which beautifully mirrors the movie. Throughout the movie, Fugly gives the feeling of being edgy, but in the end it falls off the edge.

The determination to be very unconventional makes Fugly fall flat. The film overburdened itself by covering every cliche in Delhi - from Parliament to Paharganj. Its attempt to show the depth of Delhi's ugliness proves to be its undoing. The script has not been able to weave them together into a seamless plot and they appear as loose ends.

Performance :

The director tries to present the film as an uber-cool tale, in the process the acting gets neglected. Evcept for Shergill, none of the actors make an impression. Shergill acts and convinces as the menacing Chautala, while Vijender Singh seems funny and bright. Marwah as Dev renders a soulful presence while Advani in the role of Devi adopts an attitude that varies between fiery and fragile.

Final Word:
Do yourself a favour and give this film a miss.
