Amitabh Thakur, a suspended Uttar Pradesh IPS officer, personally finds dismissal of Sanjiv Bhatt, an IPS officer, for doing whatever he thought was true, as a daring award by the Gujrat Government.
Thakur said in a statement that, "Bhatt's adherence to his conscience even at the cost of the price he had to pay for it makes him feel proud of being an IPS officer, at a time when he finds so many IPS officers kneeling to the ground for petty gains."
Earlier, Sanjiv Bhatt was sacked for unauthorized absence from service. It was claimed by Bhatt that the act followed "a sham inquiry" into" completely fabricated charges.”
After Gujarat government sent a notice letter to Sanjiv Bhatt two days back, Thakur defended Bhatt. The letter was over a video allegedly showing Bhatt with a woman. He was asked for an explanation for having an extra-marital relationship. However, Sanjiv Bhatt denied that he was not the person in the video.
Earlier, Narendra Modi was taken on by Bhatt for handling of the 2002 riots, when he was the Chief Minister of Gujarat. While, the chief of the ruling Samajwadi Party in UP, Mulayam Singh Yadav was accused of threatening for raising voice not in favor of a corrupt minister by Amitabh Thakur.
