Boris Johnson, the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom is expected to resign today after close to 40 ministers and close aides turned against him and quit the government. Three cabinet ministers called it a quit since Tuesday. Chancellor Of Exchequer Rishi Sunak and Health Secretary Sajid Javid submitted their resignations. UK Education Minister Michelle Donelan resigned yesterday. There are strong talks that Boris Johnson will submit his resignation today and he will make a statement to the country. He has been facing allegations of corruption for the past few months. Boris Johnson even apologized in the past for the same.
There are reports that Boris Johnson will continue as the Prime Minister till the autumn as the new leadership has to take charge. The latest update says that Boris Johnson agreed to step down as the Conservative Party Leader and the election for the leadership will take place soon. The 58-year-old leader will stand as the in-charge at 10 Downing Stress until the new leader gets elected. The formal statement of his resignation is expected today. Nadhim Zahawi, the Iraqi-origin minister is the frontrunner for the position of the new Prime Minister of the United Kingdom.
