While Boris Johnson made it public to the world that he was tested positive for covid-19 via a twitter message, the UK Prime Minister was admitted to the hospital on Sunday over the persistent symptoms as a precautionary step.
Johnson was self isolating in the Downing Street after he was confirmed positive for the virus. But, the concerns arose when his temperature still remained high even after 10 days, which isn’t normal at all.
The doctors suggested that Johnson should go to an undisclosed hospital and get the necessary tests done just for the precautionary methods.
In a stated issued by the Downing Street officer, it stated saying that Johnson was admitted in the hospital and is going to be staying there overnight for precaution. The statement further stated saying, “This is a precautionary step, as the prime minister continues to have persistent symptoms of coronavirus ten days after testing positive for the virus.”
The news of the hospitalisation came in after Queen Elizabeth rolled out her rallying call for the public to support and advise the locals during this time of crisis.
Johnson was the first individual of power who announced about being tested positive for the virus. He announced the same via twitter on March 27. To ensure everyone’s safety, he isolated himself in an apartment in Downing Street.
Downing Street has clarified in their statement that it was not an emergency admission and that Johnson is still the one in charge.
An official source further stated saying, “Foreign Secretary Dominic Raab will chair the government's emergency COVID-19 meeting on Monday.”
In case the Prime Minister is incapacitated, there is no plan B or succession scenario at the moment which can prove fatal in case of an emergency around.
With this being a constant, there have been reports of the pound falling by 0.4% vs the US Dollar to $1.2215 before any sort of trimming losses witnessed to the trade at $1.2230.
Queen Elizabeth has already been informed of Johnson’s admission to the hospital but the officials from the Buckingham Palace didn’t make any further comments on the same.
Even the US President Donald Trump has stated saying that Johnson is a strong man and will be able to recover in no time at all.
Trump further stated saying, “All Americans are praying for him. He's a friend of mine, he's a great gentleman and a great leader, and as you know he went to the hospital today but I'm hopeful and sure that he's going to be fine.”
The Downing Street refused to comment on the kind of tests that Johnson is undergoing but the experts in this field have stated saying that with the kind of stature, it is likely that Johnson was being tested for the oxygen levels. He is also likely going to undergo an electrocardiogram as well.
The doctors in the UK managing the Covid-19 patients have reported that more men than women who are overweight are likely on the risks of this respiratory disease.
