The government of the United Kingdom approved the extradition of WikiLeaks founder Julian Assange. He will be sent to the USA to face the charges of alleged leak of the documents related to the wars in Afghanistan and Iraq. Priti Patel, the Home Secretary in the UK signed off the documents for the extradition of Julian Assange who is 50 years old and is an Australian national. There are several stages of hearing that took place and the hearing reached the Supreme Court. Julian Assange's legal team is expected to restart a counter appeal through a new round of the legal battle very soon.

The official spokesperson of the UK Home Office told "On 17 June, following consideration by both the magistrates court and High Court, the extradition of Mr. Julian Assange to the US was ordered. Mr. Assange retains the normal 14-day right to appeal. Under the Extradition Act 2003, the Secretary of State must sign an extradition order if there are no grounds to prohibit the order being made. Extradition requests are only sent to the home secretary once a judge decides it can proceed after considering various aspects of the case". Julian Assange has been trying hard to avoid the trial in the USA and he has 14 days to appeal before the process of extradition commences.

The government of USA asked the British authorities to extradite Julian Assange. The prosecutors of USA said that Julian Assange was unlawful and he helped Chelsea Manning (USA Army Intelligence Analyst) to steal the military files and diplomatic cables. This kept several lives at a risk.
