There has been a constant duel between US and China, fighting over the accountability of the spread of the novel coronavirus. US has been persistently blaming China for their lack of management of the virus, even saying that they have “evidence” that the virus started from a virus lab in Wuhan.
The World Health Organisation (WHO) has intervened and accused US of blaming China without having concrete evidence for the act.
WHO mentioned that US has not provided with any concrete evidence to back up the claims that the Covid-19 originated from a lab in Wuhan.
"We have not received any data or specific evidence from the United States government relating to the purported origin of the virus, so from our perspective, this remains speculative," said Michael Ryan, who is the WHO emergencies director.
For better context, the US Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo has mentioned earlier this week that they have found “enormous evidence” that the virus originated in a lab in Wuhan.
"We have not received any data or specific evidence from the "There is enormous evidence that this is where it began. We took a lot of grief for that from the outset. But I think the whole world can see now. Remember, China has a history of infecting the world, and they have a history of running substandard laboratories,” Pompeo said.
President Trump has time and time mentioned and accused Beijing of hiding the necessary information of the Covid-19 outbreak which has now infected over 1.1 million in US and claimed over 68,000 lives.
Trump also brought out the figures saying that US pays $500 million a year in WHO funding, while China pays $38 million. He further clarified that it is not about the amount of the funding, he just wants WHO to not make any clarifications for the horrible mistakes that China has been part of till now.
President Trump has also alleged saying that China doesn’t want to see him getting elected for the second term of Presidency because of the stringent high tariffs that his administration had imposed on the Chinese imports.
