Chicago : A cruel sexual assault and murder of a 19-year-old Indian American girl left everyone dismayed in the US.
On Saturday, the victim, Ruth George was found dead in a family-owned vehicle in a campus garage. The girl was from Hyderabad studying at the University of Illinois.
On Sunday, near a Metro station in Chicago, the culprit, Donald Thurman a 26-year-old boy was arrested with first-degree murder and aggravated sexual assault, the boy was not from the University.
The medical examiner stated that the woman’s death was due to “The homicide of strangulation”.
"All of us are devastated. She had dreams and aspirations to become a health professional and help others. Our thoughts, our hearts, and our condolences are with her family and friends during this trying period," said the Chancellor of the University.

As per the statement, the University said, the girl’s family let the police know that she hadn’t responded to their calls from Friday evening.
The FBI evidence response team helped the police on this crime scene and in completing forensic on the vehicle.
Based on the camera footage retrieved by the police. On Saturday, at 1.25 am the culprit walked behind the teen and he was found on Halsted street at 2.10 am.
Having looked at the footage and determining the travel pattern of the culprit, the police kept an eye on the Blue line station, as the culprit traveled on the blue line.
Donald Thurman had a history in crime and was taken into custody near the blue line train station at Halsted.
Her Gymnastics team coach told ABC7 that she was a “sweet girl” with the “brightest smile” who will be dearly missed.
Yellow ribbons were hung around the campus, the girl was named “ Baby color”. Yellow was her favorite color, according to local ABC 7 news.
According to Chicago Sun Times, in a statement, Amiridis, the Chancellor said “Ruthie was an Honors College student who focused on her studies, a young woman who dreamed of becoming a physical therapist to heal people and who was always there to lend a hand to her peers, many of whom would seek her out because of her compassion for others”.
