Around 2,200 employees of Indian IT firm Infosys who works outside India have earned more than Rs 1 crore in the last fiscal year, said an Economic Times report. Infosys has hired more than 9,100 people in the United States since 2017, much close to former Chief Executive Officer (CEO) Vishal Sikka’s stated goal of hiring 10,000 in its primary market.
The report also highlighted that the company had more than 1,700 employees who earned more than Rs 1 crore in the year 2017.
According to the report, early this month Infosys said that the company had hired more than 9,000 people in the United States between April 2017 and March 2019, almost meeting its target of recruiting 10,000 American workers. The move has helped the company strengthen its business model, it added.
Infosys Chief Operating Officer UB Pravin Rao at the company's annual general meeting (AGM) said, "Since April of 2017, we have hired about 9,100 people as of March 2019. This has helped us in strengthening our business model and becoming less dependent on the visa for talent or ability."
Senior employees and consultants are paid maximum salaries. Some of the highest-paid employees are Paul Haines, ex-Director of Noah Consulting and currently Associate Partner at Infosys Consulting, who earned Rs 6.9 crore in the financial year 2019; and John Brizzi, the vice-president, and partner at Infosys Consulting earning Rs 5.7 crore.
