Venkaiah naidu will be taking oath as 13th vice president of India on august 11th. Nominated by the ruling party BJP-led National Democratic Alliance, he won the presidential election last week.
The Swearing in ceremony will take place at Durbar Hall Of Rastrapathi Bhavan at 10 a.m.
Before the formal function, Mr.Naidu paid tributes to Mahatma Gandhi at Raj Ghat in capital. He will also pay tributes to jan sangh leader Deen Dayal Upadhyaya, sardar vallabhai patel and Dr.B.R.Amedhkar.
Mr. Naidu has been a prominent leader in BJP, and he has served as BJP national president from 2002 to 2004. He served as Union Cabinet minister for Rural Development in Atal Bihari Vajpayee Government.
He has also served as the minister of Housing and Urban Poverty Alleviation, Urban development and Information and Broadcasting in Modi’s Cabinet.
Soon after the election held last week, Naidu said as the chairman of Rajya Sabha, he would steer the functioning of house “Without fear or favor” and uphold its dignity and decorum with cooperation of all members by acting in accordance with the rules and conventions of the house.
Naidu has won with the highest votes in three decades. He has won with 516 votes that is 67.9% votes share in 15th Veep Elections, defeating the opposition’s candidate, Gopal Krishna Gandhi.
He quit as a senior cabinet minister in the NDA government and the ruling party BJP after being named as vice presidential candidate.
The departing vice president Hamid Ansari, yesterday , said that there is a sense of insecurity among Muslims in the country and atmosphere of acceptance is under threat. Mr. Naidu, seemed to take on Mr. Ansari comments, saying such comments are “political propaganda”.
