A senior leader of Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) claimed that Indians in Gulf countries hailing from Telangana state have begun showing favoritism towards the party after the cancellation of Article 370 of the Constitution of India, which granted special status to the region of Jammu and Kashmir.
BJP national executive member N. Ramachandra Rao, who was on a visit to Dubai, stated that Telangana non-resident Indians and workers fancied to become members of the BJP after the president of India Ram Nath Kovind issued a constitutional order revoking Article 370 on August 5.
One of the major political parties in India has taken its membership drive to the Gulf countries and the responsibility to try to win Telangana state origin expats has been given to Rao.
Telangana NRI Gulf coordination chairman T.R. Srinivas said: “The BJP Gulf cell is conducting programs assuring NRIs and Telangana state workers that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is with them.”
