The senior BJP leaders LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and Uma Bharti were granted bail by the Special Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) court, on 30th May, 2017, in the 1992 Babri Masjid demolition case.
All the 12 accused entangled in the case were granted bail on the surety of Rs.50,000 each. The BJP leaders have appeared in the court for the first time in connection with the 1992 case. In the last month, Supreme Court has reinstated the criminal charges which were filed against Advani, Joshi, Bharti and also the other accused in the case. The verdict, which was given by the Allahabad High Court has been overruled by the Apex Court.
The Special CBI court has rejected the discharge application filed by the accused in the case, including the senior BJP leaders. The charges against all the accused in the case will be framed. The charges under section 120(b) of the Indian Penal Code, stands for criminal conspiracy, have been filed against all the accused in the case, including LK Advani.
Vinay Katiyar, Vishnu Hari Dalmia, Sadhvi Ritambara have also been called to appear in the court, apart from the senior BJP leaders LK Advani, Murli Manohar Joshi and Uma Bharti.
The Babri Masjid demolition case has been running since 25 years, and the delay in the case is creating a huge tension between the communities. The judiciary has to take further step and close the case as early as possible in order to create harmony between the communities.
