US embassy has advised its citizens in India to remain vigilant and stay away from crowded places, frequented by westerners. According to some sources, the ISIS group may be planning to attack such targets.
India continues to experience terrorist activities from Islamic terror groups such as Indian Mujahideen, Jaish-e-Mohammed, Lashkar-e Tayyiba, which may affect American citizens directly or Indirectly.
Recent media reports state that ISIS plans to attack targets in India. The American embassy warns that there might be a possible threat in India, such as in the markets, festival venues and religious places.
American embassy asked all US citizens in India to maintain a high level of vigilance and take steps to increase their security, as detailed in the state department’s worldwide caution of 9 September 2016.

Terrorists may target government and private establishments. Recent attacks indicate that extremists are interested in targeting, luxury hotels, railway stations, markets, places frequently visited by westerners.
