Islamic State has claimed the deadly bombings in Brussels, which killed at least 31 people and injured many others. On Tuesday, back to back bombings took place at the Brussels airport and subway. Dazed and bloodied travelers have staggered from the airport following the explosions.
It is believed that one of the explosions is by a suicide attacker while another is reportedly a suitcase bomb that exploded amid crowd checking in at the airport for morning flights. After 40 minutes one more blast happened amid subway commuters near the Maelbeek station in central Brussels.
A photo was released by authorities that was taken from closed-circuit TV footage. Three men were seen in the photo, pushing their luggage carts. Authorities say that two of them who were wearing gloves on their left hands are suicide bombers. They urged people to inform in case they recognize the third one wearing black hat, light-colored coat and glasses.

According to a statement released from the state prosecutors’ office, authorities found in chemical products, nail-filled bomb and an Islamic state flag in a house in Schaerbeek neighborhood, in police raids across Brussels. The Islamic State group claimed that its members denoted suicide vests in the subway and at airport.
Belgian Prime Minister Charles Michel said that, “In this time of tragedy, this black moment for our country, I appeal to everyone to remain calm but also to show solidarity.” The PM announced mourning for three days for the deadliest terror strike in the country.
French President Francois Hollande said, “Last year it was Paris. Today it is Brussels. It’s the same attacks.”
