Discovery Channel wooed its fish fans and boosted its TRP ratings like never before with annual Shark Week Sunday night that went on air from August 4-9.
As Discovery got into the “swim of things,” it clocked a little over 2 million live viewers for its 8 p.m. Show and more than 3 million for the 10 o'clock shows, that left its TRP's hitting the roof. Especially those shows on extraordinary sharks around the world fetched it record-breaking viewership.
Discovery had “the most-viewed week in its history” among younger audiences, aged between18-49 who were deeply attracted to the “predator of the deep.” Discovery surged as the most-watched network on television for the entire week.
Also, its first-ever shark talk show, "Shark After Dark" at 11 each night during Shark Week, beat all other talk shows, including "Conan," "Chelsea Lately" and "The Daily Show."
On social media, Shark Week fetched more than 2.6 million tweets.
