Ramzan is the holiest month for Muslims and it begins today.
The holy month of Ramadan for 2013 has begun today. Muslims across the world will start fasting on Wednesday to cleanse themselves during the most auspicious month in their calender.
In India, the first day of Ramadan, or Ramzan, will be observed from tomorrow 11th July on account of a heavy cloud cover that prevented the sighing of the moon.
About 20% of the population across the globe will abstain from water and food during the day. The followers of Islam believe that fasting and extending charity during the 29-30 day month offers them blessings as well as the chance to cleanse themselves of unholy actions and thoughts. All Muslims will engage in regular prayers during the Ramzan month, which is mandatory.
