While causing intensified tension, early on Saturday, a junior commissioned officer (JCO) was killed as well as a soldier was injured when army soldiers hampered an infiltration bid in north Kashmir's Kupwara district.

An army spokesperson expressed that there was a horrifying impact caused with the act of gunfight which was known to have exploded between a group of four-five militants as well as security forces when the soldiers detected the infiltration bid in Machil area. He also added that the militants opened fire resulting in the death of a JCO and injuries to another trooper.

The injured soldier was rushed to hospital for treatment while searches are continuing in the area due to which they have regained a huge quantity of ammunition.
