Megastar turned politician and Congress leader, Chiranjeevi has expressed his grief over the increase of electricity charges. Burdening people with electricity charges will not benefit public and the government, he said. Regarding the same, he has penned down a letter to the chief minister Kiran Kumar Reddy requesting to roll back the electricity charges. He has asked the chief minister to note that people were not in a stage to believe that the government hiked electricity charges only on the recommendations of Electricity Regulatory Commission (ERC).
Meanwhile, Chiru writing to chief minister has triggered a new debate among Congress leaders. They were reportedly of the opinion that Chiru could have met Kiran Kumar Reddy and discussed the issues pertaining to electricity instead of penning down a letter to him. It may be noted that Chiranjeevi, in his letter to CM, has mentioned that this electricity hike is likely to burden a few sections of the society.
He further elucidated that he wrote this letter only to highlight the problems being faced by the public. Mentioning about power cuts, Chiru said that power cuts have been more than normal this year. He has also stated that the public were not happy with the measures being undertaken by the Transco over the supply of electricity and reduce of frequent power cuts. (Phani)
