Amid reports that Congress high command will take a final decision on the Telangana issue immediately after the budget session of the Parliament, Union Minister and in-charge of party affairs in AP Mr Ghulam Nabi Azad met the Telangana Congress MPs this afternoon in Delhi and discussed the issue.
Azad, who met the MPs three days ago and unsuccessfully requested them not to disturb the Lok Sabha proceedings, met the MPs at the instance of Sonia. He discussed the issue with Union Finance Minister Pranab Mukherjee on Thursday.
A section of the media today carried reports Sonia had informed the T congress MPs who met her on Thursday that a decision on Telangana would be taken soon after the budget session of the parliament and senior leaders were asked to handle the issue. However, the T Congress MPs are not willing to make things clear officially.
Reports said both Congress and TDP have come to the conclusion that it was high time a solution was found to the Telangana issue.
TDP supremo Chandrababu Naidu held consultations with his senior party leaders including the leaders from Telangana area today. After consultations, the TDP may write a letter to the Centre to take a quick decision on the issue. Or it may even resubmit a letter affirming support to the Telangana formation.
The flurry of activity in the camps of both parties indicates a quick decision is on the anvil on the Telangana issue. (J)
