Leader of the Opposition and BJP senior leader Sushma Swaraj promised in the Lok Sabha today it would deliver the separate Telangana state after coming to power at the Centre in the 2014 elections.
Calling upon the youth and students of Telangana not to commit suicides for the sake of Telangana, Sushma said BJP would surely come to power in the next elections. “Telangana formation is inevitable after 2014 but we will continue fighting for it till then,” she told the agitated members of the TRS, Congress and TDP of the Telangana region.
The members have been disrupting the business of the House for the last four days on the issue of Telangana.
The BJP stalwart has asked the Telangana youth to keep faith in BJP and wait for the formation of Telangana state patiently. “I am deeply shocked and pained over the increasing numer of suicides for the sake of Telangana,” she said sharing her agony over the suicides in the past three days.
The opportunistic politics of certain political parties, especially those of the Congress, are responsible for the delay in the formation of Telangana state, she charged. (J)
