The high court today cancelled the bail granted to the suspended IAS officer Mr BP Acharya, accused in the Emaar-APIIC land scam and ordered him to surrender before the CBI court immediately.
CBI challenged Acharya’s bail granted by the special court at Nampally and sought its cancellation. “It was not proper for the special CBI court to grant bail to Acharya without hearing CBI and when the investigation was still going on,” the court said.
Acharya, who was released on bail a few days ago, later surrendered to the CBI court which sent him to the Chanchalguda jail on a two-week judicial custody.
Meanwhile, the high court adjourned till April 2 hearing on the bail petition of Mr Sunil Reddy, another accused in the Emaar scam. The high court has earlier cancelled the bail granted by the special court to another Emaar scam accused Koneru Prasad. (J)
