What could be the reasons that the Congress disregarded requests from the state to re-nominate veteran leader from the Telangana region K Keshava Rao. Well political critics believe two different theories. But first let’s analyze what the outgoing Rajya Sabha Member feels. Mr KK as he is fondly called felt that his frequent demands for Telangana state might have cost him dearly. He also said, "I will continue to fight for Telangana whether I am in the Rajya Sabha or outside." Being diplomatic on the precarious situation the veteran added, ` Telangana state was possible only under Congress dispensation.’
The game started late last month when the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) has sent feelers that it might field Keshava Rao as an independent if the party did not field him for a second term, by taking support from parties or MLAs keen on embarrassing Congress. The only hope the pink panthers were pinning was that the Jagan group of MLAs would support them. But with the Congress disqualifying them, the situation looks brink. But why does the state Congress want him to be re-nominated. The main reason is that, he would create an embarrassing situation for the party in the by-polls. Interestingly whenever KK spoke of Telangana, it benefited TRS more than Congress say sources. Off late KK was much in the lime light for his dostana with the TRS leader.
It may be noted sometime late last year CBI served notices on K. Viplav Kumar, KK’s younger son, seeking an explanation on his alleged nexus with mining baron and former Karnataka minister Gali Janardhan Reddy. This could be a reason or not is yet to be established. But as of now the leader under the given situation must be contended sitting out only. (With inputs from internet- AarKay)
