The Supreme Court today deferred till April 2 further hearing on the bail petition of the suspended IAS officer Y Srilakshmi, accused in the illegal mining case involving the Obulapuram Mining Company owned by the former Karnataka Minster Gali Janardhan Reddy.
The apex court asked the probing agency CBI to submit its charge sheet by March 30 so that it can hear bail petition on April 2.
With the Supreme Court adjourning the issue till April 2, Srilakshmi will have to languish in the Hyderabad Chanchalguda jail for another three weeks.
The CBI is facing tough times with the prosecution of the tainted IAS officers who were involved in various scams as the Centre has not yet green signaled their prosecution. Presently, sanction for the prosecution of Srilakshmi in the illegal mining case, and BP Acharya and LV Subramanyam in the APIIC-Emaar land scam is pending with the Central Government. (J)
