Story
Popular superstar Manoranjan (Kamal Haasan) in cinema industry who was guided by famous director Margadarsi ( K Balachander ) in early stages of his career. Manoranjan acts in high budget movies, he is an arrogant and a man of vices. His movies were produced by his father-in-law Purna chander rao (K. Viswanath). He maintains an affair with a doctor Arpana (Andrea) besides having a wife Varalakshmi (Urvasi) and a son (Manogar).
The story turns when the super star decides to quit from a project and plans a comedy movie with his Margadarsi (K Balachandar). The news about the movie 'Uttama Villain' (in the movie) shocked all the members of his family and his fans. But Manoranjan has potential reason for his rejection, which you have to watch on screens.
Analysis :
Director Ramesh Aravind has completely brought out the stuff of the Ulaganayagan and shown him in different angles, Ghibran’s music, Shamdat’s Camera, and Vijay Shankar’s editing altogether resulted in a great flick of these times. As the movie got penned by Kamal Haasan, he completely involved in the story line. We can see the Tamil Stuff in the movie, when coming to translation or dubbing.
All the departments in the movie were excellent and along with Kamal everyone perfectly fixed on the screen.
Performance :
Obviously Kamal was excellent and Urvashi, who played as his wife was ultimate in her action at hospital scene and Andrea completely lived in her character. Pooja Kumar and Bhaskar as manager Chokku were good. Veteran actor Nasar mesmerized as Mutharasan and Parvathi, who just came for a cameo was also good too.
Final Word:
One of the greatest pieces of Kamal Haasan.
