Are you a Facebook user? You will soon be able to express your feelings quickly, beyond liking, on the largest social network of the world. Around 1.6 billion users of Facebook will soon have more ways to express their feelings.
Mark Zuckerberg, Facebook CEO, says that “pretty soon six new emotions will be added to the social network throughout the world.” These were tested for four months outside the US. However, Mr. Zuckerberg didn’t give a clear and concrete timetable concerning the new feature with analysts in a conference call Wednesday following book u latest quarterly earnings report.
This means, more options expand Facebook beyond the like symbol i.e. the thumbs-up symbol. Usually people click on this like button to show they like a photo, comment or video posted on the social network. Now the new reactions will include symbols for “wow,” “haha,”, “angry,” “sad,”, “yay” and “love.”
Zuckerberg said Wednesday, “We want people to be able to share all of the things that are meaningful to them, not just the things that are happy and that people are going to like when they see it.”
Facebook hopes that the additional choices will provide more options and encourage people to share their thoughts more frequently. They will be allowed to hang out on the social network for even longer periods compared to the period they already do.
The different reactions are being tested by Facebook in Chile, Portugal, Ireland, the Philippine, Japan, Spain and Colombia.
