Google has finally lifted the veil on its highly anticipated Pixel 9 lineup after a flurry of leaks and speculation. Although the precise number of devices to be unveiled remains uncertain, the tech giant has scheduled the launch event for August 13, significantly earlier than its typical October timeline for Pixel device announcements. The event, as per the details on the Google Store (US) website, will commence at 10 am Pacific Time (PT). While Google's event page does not explicitly state that any new devices will be introduced, a teaser video offers a glimpse of a silhouette that aligns with the previously leaked images of the Pixel 9 smartphones, showcasing a new visor-style camera design. As expected, the event is likely to emphasize the integration of artificial intelligence, often referred to as "Magic," within the Pixel 9 series.
The novel camera module on the upcoming Pixel phones represents a departure from the traditional side-to-side visor design found in previous Pixel models. Google has also teased the same device on their social media channels in India, hinting that the Pixel 8 series, including the standard Pixel 8, the Pixel 8 Pro, and the recently launched Pixel 8a, will be coming to the Indian market. However, the Indian teaser suggests a launch date of August 14, which differs from the global timeline. While speculation is high about the upcoming event, the teaser confirms that Google will announce or unveil the Pixel 9 series, which is rumored to include a larger XL-sized model. All the new Pixel phones are expected to be powered by the latest Tensor G4 SoC, which will reportedly still be manufactured by Samsung. Additionally, recent rumors have also suggested the existence of a new Google foldable device, known as the Pixel Fold 2.
The upcoming Pixel device will boast a fresh, square-ish design, setting it apart from the more traditional, rectangular Pixel Fold. Additionally, rumors suggest the introduction of a new Pixel Watch 3, alongside a larger Pixel Watch 3 XL version. The XL model is expected to feature an expansive display and potentially a more substantial battery, complemented by a unique strap attachment system.
