The legendary batsman Sachin Tendulkar is in the US along with Shane Warne to inaugurate ‘Cricket All Stars 2015’. He said that the notion behind the series is not just popularize the game there but to globalize it. He felt that more counties should take part in the ICC World Cup so as to globalize the game.

Sachin said, “People have opinions that there should be less teams. But we need to find a solution and work towards it together to make cricket a global sport and not have just 8-12 countries compete all the time and be happy with that.”
“If we don’t take steps toward that [globalising the sport] it is never going to happen,” Sachin added.

‘Cricket All Stars 2015’ series

Mooted by Tendulkar and Warne, ‘Cricket All Stars 2015’ series would get 28 biggest names of the game together. Those who are in the list are Virender Sehwag, Sourav Ganguly, former West Indian captain Brian Lara, Sri Lankan spin legend Muttiah Muralitharan, and former Pakistan pacers Wasim Akram and Shoaib Akhtar.

Speaking about Australian captain Ian Chappell’s comments on people’s dislike on watching retired players in the Twenty20 exhibition series that is scheduled to be played in New York, Los Angeles and Houston, he said that retirement does not mean that “you never pick up a cricket bat again.”

“People will always have opinions, it does not mean it is the right opinion,” Tendulkar said.

“The reason for stopping cricket is because you cannot be competitive at that level but that does not mean you stop enjoying cricket. This is what we are doing, we are enjoying cricket. Once you retire it does not mean you never pick up a cricket bat again,” he said.
