Olympic bronze medal winner Mary Kom might be the "queen of the ring", but despite winning world boxing championship for five times, the "iron woman" feel insecured .
Apparently, Kom is shaken by the recent gang rape of a photo journalist in Mumbai.
"The Mumbai gang rape has shocked me. I am shattered and feel terribly insecure as a woman. I do not know when such incidents will stop. It is disgraceful. I cannot find the reason behind such incidents," Mary Kom said to press.
Deeming the Mumbai incident 'sad' and 'shocking', she asserted that women should master self-defense techniques to fight difficult situations. She also advised girls not to go into dark, deserted places.
Talking about legal remedies to sexual harassment, she said, "Any girl facing harassment should immediately inform her family, school or college about it."
Finally, speaking on her career, she said: "I will be out of the ring for the next one year as I need to be with my children. I will be back thereafter.”
