The IPL season for 2022 came to an end and the final took place last night in Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. In a battle between Gujarat Titans and Rajasthan Royals, Gujarat Titans won the final by 7 wickets and bagged their first ever title of Gujarat Titans. The team made its debut this year and surprised all the existing teams. Rajasthan Royals won the toss and decided to bat first. In their 20 overs, Rajasthan Royals scored 130 for the loss of 9 wickets. The team lost frequent wickets and struggled to get a respectable score. Jos Buttler (39), Yashasvi Jaiswal (22) and Riyan Parag (15) are the top scorers for the side. Hardik Pandya (3/17), Ravisrinivasan Sai Kishore (2/20) and Rashid Khan (1/18) took the wickets for Gujarat Titans.
Gujarat Titans completed the chase in 18.1 overs and the team lost three wickets. Shubman Gill (45 not out), Hardik Pandya (34) and David Miller (32 not out) are the top scorers for the side. Hardik Pandya has been named as the Player of the Match and Jos Buttler has been named as the Player of the Tournament. Hardik Pandya has been winning accolades show for his all-round performance and leading the team. Gujarat Titans created history on bagging the IPL title on their debut. The team has been top on the points table from the league stage. Gujarat Titans will take home a prize money of Rs 20 crores and Rajasthan Royals will get Rs 13 crores. Royal Challengers Bangalore will get Rs 7 crores for their third place and Lucknow bagged Rs 6.5 crores.
