Sunrisers Hyderabad wins their first away match

A dominating batting performance allowed Hyderabad beat Kings XI Punjab by 26 runs for their fifth win this season and first away win in Mohali. Punjab won the toss and asked Hyderabad to bat first, fifties from Shikhar Dhawan, skipper David Warner and Kane Williamson powered the visitors to a huge 207/3. SRH bowlers wiped off the hosts top order and then survived a late blitz from Shaun Marsh to stop them at 181 for nine.

Hyderabad openers finished the ‘Powerplay’ overs with an excellent run-rate of 10 an over. Dhawan and Warner consecutively hit Punjab pacers for boundaries. With pacers proving ineffective the home team brought spinners in the front line, a decision KXIP regretted. Warner hit a four and two sixes off three successive balls delivered by Axar Patel. Powerplay overs without any loss of wicket laid the foundation of a huge total.
After Warner’s dismissal Williamson played some exquisitely timed shots and scored a half-century to push the total to 207.

Chasing a 200+ target is always going to be a huge task. But for a team that likes to chase suffered an early 42/3 in five overs, the home side suffered a major setback. But they still had some big names, who have the ability to turn the game. Shaun Marsh and Eoin Morgan can accelerate at will. The duo added 73 runs together that scared the opponents. Marsh managed to score against every bowler he faced. In the 16th over the home team lost their hope when Deepak Hooda managed to send Marsh back to the pavilion. With no other players in their disposal KXIP ended scoring 181/9.
