Cricketer Sachin Tendulkar is all set to appointed as the brand ambassador for the state government's campaign against alcohol and drugs. Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had requested the cricketer to be part of the campaign.
CM Pinarayi Vijayan said that, "We have requested Sachin Tendulkar to be a part of the campaign against the increasing trend of alcohol and drug use in our state. As a person who has always been devoid of the urges to have his body at the disposal of the harms resulted by substance abuse, he has agreed enthusiastically to support our cause. The finer details will be decided later."
Tendulkar had called Kerala CM to introduce the new co-owners of the Kerala Blasters football team. "At the grass-root level we have been working with 40 schools, but we understand that the interest levels are much higher. The vision is to have a residential academy where youngsters can freely pursue their dreams. We have experienced high interest levels for the last two years and we want to take our initiative to the next level which is only possible with better infrastructure and planning," Tendulkar said.
"The reason for us to be here and meet the chief minister was to introduce him to the co-owners and discuss the path forward in order to ensure that youngsters get to benefit majorly from the plan we have been working on for the last few years," he said.
"We requested the chief minister for his team's help and guidance. They have graciously agreed to back us up and support us for the betterment of the sportsmen and budding stars of Kerala that can eventually inspire others in the state," Tendulkar said.
