In a letter to BCCI, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has sought clarity on the doubtful bilateral series between India and Pak this December and also pointed out the memorandum of understanding (MOU) signed between both the boards last year.

The letter was written by PCB chief Shaharyar Khan to Anurag Thakur, BCCI secretary, in the wake of growing sentiment in India to suspend the bilateral ties amid political tensions between India and Pakistan.

MOU between PCB and BCCI

During the ICC meeting last year, an MOU was signed between the boards for a total of six series between 2015 and 2023. The MOU was the basis of Pakistan's conditional support to the organisational revamp by ICC.

The revival of the India-Pakistan series is in doubts due to recent past political events. The possibility of the resumption of cricket until the stabilization of political events has been scotched by Thakur himself.

Shaharyar, in his letter called Thakur's statement as a "negative shadow" on the PCB-BCCI relationship. He wrote, "I am much hopeful that the Indian government will give its go-ahead to our series regardless of any routine border tension.” He said the series would aid in the reduction of tensions in both countries.

The letter also addressed the issues surrounding Ten Sports' deal with the PCB. The PCB had recently signed a five-year deal with the broadcaster, but its ties to the Essel Group, which has threatened to form a breakaway international league, had caused issues.

Not a single bilateral Test series was played between India and Pakistan since 2007. However, India did host Pak for T20Is and three ODIs, between December 2012 and January 2013.
