The temple was founded on March 1, 1996 by Hardial Singh Hunji in honor of his late wife, Kushlia Devi Hunji. According to Mr. Hunji, she appeared in his dream years after her death and reminded him to build a temple that would serve as a gathering place for people of the Hindu faith. Her dream was realized a year later, in 1996, with a land donation and monetary contribution from Mr. Hunji along with additional donations from community members. The Sri Narayan Hindu Temple continues service with the help of the community and support of those who attend, and appreciates the kindness and generosity of everyone who attends daily aarti as well as weekend satsang.
