Tamil actor Thalapathy Vijay revealed his plans to establish a new political party called 'Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam' on Friday. He expressed his dedication to bringing about significant political change through a transparent and corruption-free administration, free from caste discrimination. This announcement followed the approval of his fan club, Vijay Makkal Iyakkam, during a recent meeting in Chennai. In an official statement, Vijay stated his intention to register the party with the Election Commission and participate in the 2026 assembly elections. He emphasized that politics is not merely a career or hobby for him, but a profound calling that he has been preparing for extensively. The statement also acknowledged the current political landscape and the need for transformative measures.
On the flip side, there is a strong desire among the people of Tamil Nadu for a profound shift in politics, one that brings about a selfless, transparent, casteless, forward-thinking, corruption-free, and effective government. Once given the green light by the Election Commission, the party intends to organize public gatherings and activities. These events will provide an opportunity to showcase their policies, values, and strategies, while also unveiling a flag and party symbol.
