Top director Shankar wanted to reprise the magic of Indian and he worked on the script for years. After Kamal Haasan was equally excited about the project, the shoot commenced. Lyca Productions was on the board to bankroll this big-budget project. Several unexpected incidents delayed the shoot of Indian 2 and it was the creative difference between the director and the producers that kept the shoot on hold. Kamal Haasan held a series of meetings but he could not resolve the issue. With nothing much in his hands, Kamal Haasan shifted his focus on Vikram and the film ended up as a super hit.

Now, all the issues and hurdles for Indian 2 are cleared. The shoot of the film resumed today in Chennai. Some of the important episodes are canned currently. Kamal Haasan is in USA and he will join the sets of the film in September. Kajal Aggarwal, Siddharth and Rakul Preet Singh will be seen in other important roles in Indian 2. Red Giant Movies joined the fillm as co-producers. The makers also made an official announcement that the shoot started today. Indian 2 is aimed for summer 2023 release. AR Rahman is the music director and some of the top technicians of the country are working for Indian 2.
