World’s largest temple in Bihar `Bhumi Pooja’ today

The Bihar Mahavir Mandir Trust plans to construct the world largest temple in Bihar and the Bhoomi Pooja was conducted today in the early hours.

Bihar shall now have the world’s largest Hindu temple on the lines of Cambodia’s Angkor Wat temple. The temple is being constructed by the Bihar Mahavir Mandir Trust (BMMT). The temple’s `Bhoomi Pooja’ was conducted ceremoniously at the site, a few hours back, in Bihar's Vaishali district. The temple coincides with the centenary celebrations of the state formation is also worth noting. The temple would be a replica of the Cambodia temple built by the Cambodian King Suryavarman (1141-1152 AD), in the 12th century. It is the largest known Hindu Temple till day. The Bihar Temples shall supersede this.

The 222-feet shikar is the world’s tallest shikar when compared to any Hindu Temple till date. The temple is built on a sprawling 15 acres at a place near Ismailpur village on Hajipur-Bidupur road, which will be christened as Angkor Nagar. BMMT's secretary and ex-IPS officer Acharya Kishore Kunal said that the 100 Cr temple would take 3-5 years for completion and the whole finishing work will take another five years. Adding that the proposed temple will be named 'Virat Angkor Wat Ram Mandir' and it will house the statues of Radha-Krishna, Shiva-Parvati, Ganesh, Surya, Vishnu and ten incarnations of Lord Vishnu.  (With inputs from internet: AarKay)
